Unfortunately I just now realized this thread is in the Mac OS section, and I'm running WinXP. Sweet, another K2600 user! Slowest keyboard ever - acts like it's emulating its own interface - but glorious. This file has been downloaded 348 time(s).

I've contacted Pete Yandell (who lives in Australia) asking if he intends to update MIDI Patchbay and haven't heard back from him so far.įinale 2006 & 2007 (owned but rarely used due to reliability issues)įinale plays AMS Objects via IAC.pdf 175KB (application/pdf) Howerver, it is, unfortunately, not possible to use MIDI Patchbay with Intel Macs because MIDI Patchbay has not been updated to an Intel compatible version.

Apparently, the combination of the IAC drivers and the MIDI Patchbay configuration buffer Finale's output in ways that remove anomalies from Finale's MIDI output stream. This configuration, in my experience, vey significantly reduces the number of MIDI errors and stuck notes in Finale's playback of external output devices (and internal "devices" such as applications that host virtual instruments).

Please don't think this is hard to accomplish - it should take a very few minutes - especially if you download the PDF files I mentioned which have screen shots. The MIDI Data stream will now flow from Finale to MIDI Patchbay to the intended output device (e.g.K2600). Thus, in Finale, the output device for Channels 1-16 would be IAC Port 1, 17-32 would be IAC port 2, etc. In Finale's MIDI Setup dialog box choose the IAC port you have directed to the output device as Finale's output device. Using MIDI Patchbay, create a configuration that directs the appropriate IAC port to the intended output object. (Think of the IAC driver and its ports as a virtual MIDI interface). Using Audi MIDI Setup, turn on the IAC driver and create as many IAC ports (each port has 16 MIDI channels) as you need. (Outlined in part of the PDF file I posted in the thread "Finale Plays Logic." - and in the attached PDF specifically aimed at the situation under discussion here.) This involves downloading MIDI Patchbay (freeware) from and setting up a configuration of MIDI Patchbay between Finale and its intended output objects. What computer are you using? If it is NOT an Intel Mac, there might be another solution. I've had it with USB converters - 128 channels is not worth this awful pretense of advanced technology. Just for the record, I'm using a Kurzweil K2600, an M-Audio MIDISport Uno, and Finale 2007c, fully updated. The very first note played back screwed up as Finale enabled Thru (my synth is slow) but since then, including after restarting Finale and restarting the synth, everything works beautifully. So I tried Direct, and that seemed to work. It did get rid of the stuck notes on Stop Playback, though. Enabling "Smart" for me worked OK on a small file, but in a full orchestral score, even with HP disabled, the synthesizer emitted a cacophony of unearthly squeaks - definitely not the patches I selected. Also check the Match On/Off function, though this has no effect on my setup. In your case, try the opposite - disabling Thru. Oddly enough, I found a lot of websites that recommended turning "Smart" on, instead of disabling Thru, to stop the stuck notes problem. Should this change to one of the others? If so, will affect playback in the right patches? Thanks. I went to midi through and saw that "Smart" was the choice enabled.

Thanks.įinale 2007c, 2Ghz iMac, M-Audio Audiophile USB

Is there a way around this> I dont' really care about having the clarinet sound like a clarinet when I am inputting notes or checking potential entries. The thing that is different is that my keyboard now takes on the sound of the last instrument I have hyperscribed in and I get these stuck notes and have to stop my creating to click "all notes off". Since Finale 2007 came out I am having a boatload of trouble with stuck notes and never had it before. MakeMusic Forum > Public Forums > Finale - Macintosh - FORUM HAS MOVED! > Midi Stuck Notes
